San Diego’s Ass Pocket Whiskey Fellas has developed a reputation among local craft breweries, Irish Pubs and at numerous outdoor events for its rousing, crowd pleasing, eclectic performances. Often incorporating and encouraging crowd participation, with a playlist that runs the gamut from Original material, with influences in Irish traditional, Classic Country, Bluegrass, Ragtime and Classic Rock including some stellar Led Zeppelin covers, drawing a wide range of appeal for all ages. This 8 piece acoustic band was founded in the summer of 2011 by San Diego rock band veterans: Jack Laux, Steve Hoshko, and George Davis, looking to explore the connections between Irish traditional and American roots, and infusing a rousing rock band delivery, while still utilizing all acoustic instruments. The fellas really took flight with the addition of fiddle player extraordinaire, “Flying”Floyd Fronius.
As the Fellas reputation grew at the breweries, pubs and a 2 year stint as house band at 57 degrees, they were soon invited to perform on Horn blower Yachts “Brews Cruise” 1 and 2, O.B. Street Fair and Chili Cook off, a regular 4 years in row at Balboa park’s St. Patrick’s day parade, San Diego’s Shamrock festival in the Gaslamp, The 2015 Mission Valley Craft beer and Food Festival, San Diego Gypsyfest, San Diego Gator by the Bay festival 2016-2017, 2016 Balboa park December Nights and numerous House of Blues “Local brews, local Grooves” events to name just a few. They play pubs and breweries from North County to South bay and from the beach out to East County. The fellas are staunch supporters of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, San Diego Irish Outreach, San Diego Fire Fighters Pipe and Drum band and have donated their time to many local charities including Fresh Start for Rady Children’s hospital, Operation Soldier’s Gratitude and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society San Diego. The Fellas are currently working on material for their third full length CD of original music and have their own music station featured on Pandora. Last year’s CD “Second Pint” was nominated for the 2017 San Diego Music Awards for “Best Local Recording.”
Chef Arthur Ortiz has been tapped to join 31 other top O.C. chefs for the most prestigious culinary event of the year – the Illumination Foundation’s OC Chef’s Table.
The event includes a cocktail reception, live entertainment, a silent auction and even table décor that jostles for first-place pageantry. Joined by L.A.’s Celebrity Chef Jet Tila, each chef is responsible for his or her own 10-top table of patrons, creating an encapsulated “atmosphere,” from table décor to lavish courses and cocktails prepared tableside.
Proceeds from this year’s OC Chef’s Table 2018 will go to the construction of the nation’s first Recuperative Care Housing Site for children. Working hand-in-hand with CHOC Children’s Hospital, Illumination Foundation’s recuperative care program will be a safety net for unstably housed or homeless children who are recovering from an illness or medical procedure.
Tables and individual tickets for OC Chef’s Table are still available at: ifhomeless.org/occt2018
Considered one of the most versatile music aficionados to come out of Hawaii, Joseph Soul has been commanding crowds for well over 15 years. Highly touted as a nightclub DJ, his expertise spans more than the distance between two turntables. With his accomplishments as a producer, engineer, and songwriter widely recognized, it is no surprise that he currently earns a living doing just that.
A seven-time Na Hoku Hanohano award nominee (Hawai’s, Grammy sponsored music awards), Joseph Soul is no stranger to the Hawai`i music scene. With experience penning songs for Nesian N.I.N.E and Dani Waring, producing the smash hits, “Take You Higher” from Positive Motion and “Tell Me” by Tenelle, and mastering Maoli’s 2010 album “Rock Easy”, it should come as no shock that he wrote, produced, engineered, and mixed his first album almost entirely on his own (DJ Audissey – Overdue). He collaborates with both up-and-coming artists, as well as, seasoned veterans and is constantly searching for new talent to help break into the island music scene.
